Week 10 NFL Matchups

Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills

Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Alex Smith is only a start if you are desperate. I would rather have Flacco, Romo, and Tannehill. Jamaal Charles is a must start. Dwayne Bowe is a wide receiver three or desperate flex play. Travis Kelce is a good option and I would start him over guys like Jason Witten, Delaine Walker, and Larry Donnell. The Chiefs defense is okay this week, they could be really good depending if Sammy Watkins and Fred Jackson do not play. They are a high upside streaming option.
Kyle Orton is around the same area as Alex Smith. If Fred Jackson plays, he is a top fifteen guy and you should probably start him. If Jackson plays I would avoid Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon. If Jackson is out, Dixon becomes a low end flex play or start if you are desperate. Bryce Brown is a risky start because it is tough to know how much playing time he will get. Sammy Watkins did not practice again today; I do not expect him to play. Jackson and Watkins are listed as questionable, so have alternative arrangements. Robert Woods would be the number one receiver in Buffalo if Watkins is out, Woods would be a low end flex play if Watkins is out. Scott Chandler is an okay tight end, whose value also increases if Watkins is out because Buffalo has to throw to someone. The Bills defense is close to the top five and is a good start. This game should be low scoring so that helps both defenses.

Tennessee Titans at Baltimore Ravens

Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Bishop Sankey is an okay running back this week and a flex play or someone if you are desperate. Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter are wide receiver threes and you should only start them if you are desperate. Delaine Walker is a solid tight end if you need one and I would start him over tight end like, Charles Clay, Zach Ertz, and Heath Miller. There is not a scenario where I am starting the Titans defense.
Joe Flacco is a good bye week replacement; I would start Flacco over Romo, Newton, and Sanchez. Justin Forsett is a low end running back one and you should start him. Lorenzo Taliafero is a flex play or someone if you are desperate. Steve Smith is a low end wide receiver two or flex play and Torrey Smith is a wide receiver three or desperate flex play. Owen Daniels is close to a top five start at tight end, he might be available in your league because he was injured so add him! The Ravens defense should bounce back this week, I like them more than most do. I still would rather have the Chiefs or Eagles defenses.

Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars

Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Tony Romo should play this week, but I think he is a risky start. It is a good matchup, but who knows how much he will be able to move and what the game plan will be. I think this will be a great game for DeMarco Murray; of course you are starting him. Dez Bryant was disappointing but should be improved if Romo starts. Terrance Williams is a flex play if Romo plays. If Romo is out then I would bench Williams. Jason Witten is a good start this week, and his value improves if Romo plays. The Cowboys defense should be good this week because of the matchup and is a top five start.
Denard Robinson is a borderline number one running back, and should be started. Toby Gerhart is only someone I would start if I were desperate. Allen Robinson is a low rated flex play and a wide receiver three. Cecil Shorts and Allen Hurns are wide receiver fours and desperate flex plays. Clay Harbor is a tight end to play if you need one, but he will not be great. I would avoid the Jaguars defense but they could be appealing if Romo is out.

Miami Dolphins at Detroit Lions

Fantasy Relevance: 6 – Ryan Tannehill is a good bye week replacement and someone I would start over Romo. Lamar Miller is a top fifteen running back, but he has a tough matchup and had a small injury. You should still start him though. Mike Wallace is a good start this week and borderline top ten. Jarvius Landry and Brain Hartline are only if you are desperate or in very deep leagues. Charles Clay is a fine streaming tight end if you need a replacement and could be in the top ten. The Dolphins defense is top ten start and should be a solid play.
Matthew Stafford is a top ten start and should improve with the return of Calvin Johnson. Joique Bell and Reggie Bush are top twenty starts. Calvin Johnson is a top five wide receiver and I expect a big game from him. His return hurts Golden Tate’s value but he still is a wide receiver two. The Lions defense is a top five start and should be fresh off of the bye week.

San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints

Fantasy Relevance: 6 – Colin Kaepernick is a top ten start against the Saints. Frank Gore is a top twenty start, but you don’t feel good about starting him. Boldin is a low end wide receiver two or flex play. Michael Crabtree is a wide receiver three or flex play. I would only consider Stevie Johnson if I were really desperate. Vernon Davis is a low end tight end; don’t let his name fool you he just isn’t elite right now. I would try to avoid the 49ers defense in a tough road matchup.
Drew Brees is a top quarterback this week, and should be very good. Mark Ingram is a top ten running back with Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas out. I would try to trade Ingram, because when Thomas and Robinson return they could cannibalize the fantasy value for all of each other. That is something I fear with Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill also. I would avoid Cadet unless you are desperate. Bradin Cooks and Marques Colston are flex plays and wide receiver threes. Kenny Stills is only a start if you are in a very deep league. Jimmy Graham should do very well and is a must start. The Saints defense is only a start if you really need one, but I would avoid them.

Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets

Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Ben Roethlisberger is a top start this week and should put up another great performance. Le’Veon Bell is another must start, and I think he has a very good game. He has been good and not getting many touchdowns but they will come and he will be even better when they do. Antonio Brown is a must start. Martavis Bryant is a top twenty play and a wide receiver two. Markus Wheaton is someone if you are desperate. Heath Miller is an okay tight end if you need someone this week but not usually an every week starter. The Steelers defense is top ten and have a high upside.
Chris Ivory is a top fifteen start and should be able to do well. Percy Harvin and Eric Decker are low wide receiver twos and more likely a flex play. Jace Amaro is only someone if you need a replacement tight end for the bye week or injuries but I would rather have Clay Harbor and Mychal Rivera. I would avoid the Jets defense because Pittsburgh has been terrific and the Jets defense is weak.

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Matt Ryan is a top ten start and should have a good game here. Steven Jackson is a top twenty running back and a running back two. The entire Falcons offense should do well this week. Julio Jones is a top ten play and had a great game against the Buccaneers earlier this year, since then his highest scoring game is ten points in standard scoring. Roddy White is a top fifteen receiver and should start for you. I would avoid the Falcons defense.
Josh McCown is the starter for the Buccaneers again, he is not someone you start but negatively impacts Jackson and Evans. Bobby Rainey is a top fifteen running back and should play well. Charles Sims should start this week and is a flex play or someone if you are desperate. Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans are low wide receiver twos or flex plays. I would avoid the Buccaneers defense because the Falcons offense could do well and it is too risky.

What isn’t getting attention about Adrian Peterson
It looks more and more likely Adrian Peterson will return this year. I believe Peterson will be the number one running back for the rest of the year if he returns. He will be better than usual because his legs will be fresher than everyone else by a significant amount. All of the other players will have eleven weeks on their bodies and are worn out. When Michael Vick returned his legs were fresher, obviously he had more time away but it is similar. If I am a team that is in very good shape to make the playoffs, I would give up a pretty good amount to get Peterson. I would try and give up a handcuff like Randal to the Murray owner and a wide receiver on my bench for Peterson. I didn’t think Peterson would return, it is crazy to think almost two months to the day the Ray Rice video was just released. Things change quickly though and Adrian Peterson will be outstanding and could really win the playoffs for you.

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders

Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Peyton Manning is a must start and should have a big day. Ronnie Hillman is a top ten running back and should be great also. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are both must starts and could be top five receivers. Wes Welker is a wide receiver three or someone if you need a receiver badly. Julius Thomas is a must start and should also have a great day. The Broncos defense is also a top five start, and should be great.
Darren McFadden is a running back two or a flex start. Maurice Jones-Drew is someone if you are desperate, but should be avoided. Andre Holmes and James Jones are wide receiver threes and flex starts if you really need receivers. Mychal Rivera is an intriguing tight end if you need one; he will not be great but has good upside and is a fine replacement. Obviously avoid the Raiders defense no matter what.

New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks

Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Eli Manning is someone you should avoid in a very tough matchup. Andre Williams is a top twenty running back but has a tough matchup and Peyton Hillis has started to take some work. Rashad Jennings should be out, but might come back next week. Odell Beckham Jr. is a top twenty receiver and looks to be better than Ruben Randle. Randle is a flex play at most or wide receiver three. Larry Donnell is a top ten tight end this week, and a good bye week replacement. I would avoid the Giants defense because of a tough matchup in Seattle.
Russell Wilson is a good quarterback and someone who should start for you. I like him this week and think he gets back on track against the Giants. Marshawn Lynch is a top five running back, he had a calf injury but is probable and will play I imagine. Doug Baldwin is a wide receiver two or flex play and I like him a lot this week. The Seahawks defense should do well this week and could be number one.

St Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals

Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Tre Mason is a borderline top twenty running back this week but has a tough matchup. Benny Cunningham and Zac Stacy are low flex plays. Ideally you don’t have to start any of these running backs because it is messy. There are not really any other fantasy relevant players on the Rams, Kenny Britt is someone if you are desperate. Jared Cook has been disappointing and should be avoided.
Carson Palmer is close to a top five quarterback this week. He has a good matchup and might still be available in your league if you need a quarterback. Andre Ellington is a top ten running back and should be started in every league. Larry Fitzgerald is a top twenty receiver and should be started. Michael Floyd is a flex play or very good wide receiver three. The Cardinals defense should be a top five start this week and have a great matchup.

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

Fantasy Relevance: 7 – Jay Cutler is a top ten quarterback this week and should be a good start. Matt Forte is a must start running back and should be great. Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey are top ten starts this week. I don’t feel great about it but I do think this game will be high scoring and have a lot of offense. Martellus Bennett did not practice today and is questionable. I would play a different tight end since this is a late game. Unless you own Greg Olson or Zach Ertz I don’t think you can take a chance and start Bennett. I would avoid the Bears defense in all fantasy situations.
Aaron Rodgers is a top quarterback this week and should be great. Eddie Lacy is a top ten start this week and should be started in all leagues. Jordy Nelson is a top five start and should do well. Randall Cobb is a top ten start and he should also do well. Davante Adams is a desperate flex play or wide receiver three. The Packers defense are a risky start, the Bears offense could do terrible and turn the ball over or rise to the occasion and have a shoot out against the Packers.

Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles

Fantasy Relevance: 6 – Cam Newton is a risky start, and someone I would avoid. DeAneglo Williams and Jonathan Stewart are low end flex plays or running backs if you are desperate. Kelvin Benjamin should bounce back this week and is a top fifteen play. Greg Olson should also return to form this week. The Panthers defense is a risky start this week; they could get turnovers or destroyed by Mark Sanchez and the Eagles. I would avoid them unless I had no other options.
Mark Sanchez is a name people are going crazy for. I don’t really see it as much, he could be good and should be able to replicate Nick Foles fantasy value. But he also threw interceptions as a Jet and might be terrible. I do trust Chip Kelly but he will have learning curves and this could be a bad game for him. I like LeSean McCoy a lot, and think he is a good buy low since the touchdowns will come. Jeremy Maclin is a top five receiver and should still be good with Sanchez. Jordan Matthews and Riley Cooper are only starts if you are desperate or wide receiver fours. Zach Ertz is an okay tight end, and might be a safety blanket for Sanchez. The Eagles defense should be solid and a top ten start.
