Week 12 NFL Matchups

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
Fantasy Relevance 4 – I am expecting this game to be very messy. The Bills have not practiced yet and will not a lot before the game. I think this game will be low scoring and a struggle for the Bills offense. I would avoid Vick in all formats this week. Chris Ivory is a running back two or flex play this week. Chris Johnson is only someone if you are in a deep league or really need a running back. Percy Harvin and Erick Decker are flex starts, but they make me nervous. Jace Amaro is an option in deeper leagues, but has a lot of risk. The Jets defense is a sleeper this week. They could have a solid performance but come with risk.
Kyle Orton is someone I would try to avoid this week. I’d rather have Eli Manning, Flacco, and Ryan. Fred Jackson is a flex running back this week. It is concerning that the Bills haven’t practiced much so Jackson could be rusty. But Jackson should be healthy so that helps. Bryce Brown has some upside this week but I would approach him with caution. Anthony Dixon is someone if you really need a running back. Sammy Watkins is a top fifteen receiver and should be a must start. Scott Chandler is a tight end two this week, or someone if you need a replacement for the injuries. The Bills defense is great this week, and should start for your team.
Cleveland Browns at Atlanta Falcons
Fantasy Relevance 5 – Brian Hoyer should only be considered in two quarterback leagues. With Ben Tate dropped by the Browns, it adds value for Crowell and West. Crowell should be the main running back and is a running back two this week. Terrance West is an appealing flex start this week, because he should also have an increased roll. Josh Gordon is a top ten receiver this week, and I expect him to have a very good return. The Browns are an okay defense this week, they have some risk attached though.
Matt Ryan is an average quarterback this week, he is around Mark Sanchez. Steven Jackson is a running back two, and should have an okay performance. I have some concerns about the Falcons offense this week and think it could struggle to score. You still are starting Julio Jones and Roddy White, they are borderline top fifteen receivers. I would not start the Falcons defense under any circumstance.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Chicago Bears
Fantasy Relevance 5 – Josh McCown is close to a top ten start this week in a good matchup. Charles Sims is a flex play this week, and seems to be the main running back for the Buccaneers. Bobby Rainey is someone if you need a bye week replacement, but I would try to avoid him in the future. Mike Evans is a top fifteen receiver this week and has really emerged as a good player for fantasy. Vincent Jackson is a flex play this week. Austin Sefarian-Jenkins is another tight end if you need one, he is an okay option. I would avoid the Buccaneers defense in any situation.
Jay Cutler is close to a top five start this week. This game should have a good amount of offense and that helps Cutler. Forte is a must start, along with Marshall and Jeffrey. Bennett is a top five tight end and should be started in most cases. The Bears defense should be avoided, the risk is too high I believe.
Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans
Fantasy Relevance 4 – Andy Dalton should be avoided in everything but two quarterback leagues. Giovani Bernard is back this week, but it looks like the Bengals are going to not give him a lot of work. It sounds like a sixty five thirty five split with Hill getting the majority. It will be interesting to see the exact amount of touches, but for this week Hill is the better start. A.J. Green is a top five start this week. Mohamed Sanu is a flex play or wide receiver three this week. Jermaine Gresham should be avoided, he got two touchdowns last week but those were his only two receptions. The Bengals defense should be avoided in all cases.
Ryan Mallett is an interesting player in two quarterback leagues, but in standard leagues he does not have value. Arian Foster is questionable, I expect him to play. If he does not then Alfred Blue is a top fifteen running back. DeAndre Hopkins is a wide receiver two who has a lot of potential. Andre Johnson is more of a flex play this week. The Texans defense is a top ten play this week, and they should be a solid start.
Detroit Lions at New England Patriots
Fantasy Relevance 7 – Matthew Stafford is a top ten quarterback this week and I like him a lot. Joique Bell is a flex running back this week, and it could be a tough game for him. Reggie Bush is questionable but seems likely to play. If you can avoid starting him, I would. He is risky and I have doubts about how much work he will have. Theo Riddick is not someone to start this week, but he does have value to have on your bench. Calvin Johnson has a tough matchup this week, but is still a top five start. Golden Tate is still a wide receiver two or a flex play. The Lions defense should not start this week, this game should be high scoring and the defense should struggle.
Tom Brady is a top five start this week and I think he will do very well. Shane Vereen is a flex play this week, in theory this should be a game where he gets a lot of work.Jonas Gray is a risky start this week, I would leave him on my bench. LeGarrette Blount is someone to add if you have the roster space. I would not drop a handcuff running back for him, but an extra defense I would. Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell are flex plays. Rob Gronkowski is a must start and the top tight end this week. I would avoid the Patriots defense also because this game should be very high scoring.
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
Fantasy Relevance 4 – Aaron Rodgers is a must start this week. Eddie Lacy is a top five running back this week. Jordy Nelson is a top five start, and Randall Cobb is in the top ten. The Packers defense is a top five start this week, they should be very good.
Jerick McKinnon is a flex play this week, but his long term value is a little lower. The Vikings added Ben Tate this week, but I would not start him for week twelve. There is not a Vikings receiver that should be starting in standard leagues. Kyle Rudolph is a low tight end this week, and an okay option if you need a replacement. Avoid the Vikings defense no matter what, they should not be started in any league.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts
Fantasy Relevance 4 – Denard Robinson is a top ten running back this week. Cecil Shorts and Allen Hurns are wide reciever fours or okay options in very deep leagues. Marcedes Lewis is a sleeper this week and for the rest of the year. He could be good if you need a tight end. Avoid the Jaguars defense not matter what.
Andrew Luck is a top five quarterback this week and a must start. Since Ahmad Bradshaw is out for the rest of the year, that helps Trent Richardson. I still don’t trust Richardson but he is a flex play this week. T.Y Hilton is a top ten receiver this week and should do very well. Reggie Wayne is a flex play this week. Dwayne Allen is out this week, making Coby Fleener a top ten tight end this week. Fleener might be available in your league still, so I encourage adding him if he is. The Colts defense should be very good this week, and are a solid start.
Tennessee Titans at Philadelphia Eagles
Fantasy Relevance 5 – Zach Mettenberger is an interesting option in two quarterback leagues, he does not have an impact in standard leagues. Bishop Sankey is a flex running back this week. Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter are wide receiver fours or starters in deeper leagues. Delaine Walker should play this week, and if he does he will be a top ten tight end. Avoid the Titans defense, this game should be very high scoring.
Mark Sanchez is a top twelve quarterback this week, who I like a lot. LeSean McCoy has struggled lately, but I think he has a good chance to come back this week. Jeremy Maclin is a top ten start this week and should do well. Jordan Matthews is a wide receiver two and has emerged as a valuable fantasy starter. Zach Ertz is an okay start this week, but I am not very confident in him. The Eagles defense is a top five start this week and has a good matchup.
St Louis Rams at San Diego Chargers
Fantasy Relevance 5 – Shaun Hill is only valuable in two quarterback leagues. Tre Mason is a running back two this week. Benny Cunningham should only be started in deep leagues. Kenny Britt is a wide receiver three or a deep league flex play. Jared Cook is only useful in deep leagues, or if you really need a tight end. The Rams defense is appealing, but they have some risk.
Philip Rivers is a low end quarterback this week, the matchup is tough and I would look for an alternative like Tannehill or McCown. Ryan Matthews is a running back two this week. Branden Oliver should only be considered if you really need a running back. Keenan Allen is a flex play, and Malcom Floyd is a wide receiver three. Antonio Gates is a top five tight end, and should start for your team. The Charges defense is an okay start this week, but the Rams offense could exploit the Chargers defense.
Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks
Fantasy Relevance 6 – Andre Ellington is a top ten running back this week, and he has a lot of potential in this game. Michael Floyd is a flex play this week. Larry Fitzgerald might play, but it is a tough matchup so I would avoid playing him. John Brown has potential for the future but this week he is not someone to start. The Cardinals defense is a top five start this week and should have a good game because it will be lower scoring.
Russell Wilson is a top ten start this week. Marshawn Lynch is a top five start this week, the matchup is tough but he has been very good lately. Doug Baldwin is a wide receiver four but I would avoid him. The Seahawks defense is a top five start this week, and they should also do very well.
Miami Dolphins at Denver Broncos
Fantasy Relevance Ryan Tannehill is a top twelve start this week and I think he is a sleeper. Lamar Miller should play this week, and is a top twenty running back. Mike Wallace is a wide receiver two and I think he will have a good week. Jarvis Landry is a sleeper this week, and has some upside. Charles Clay is another tight end option if you need one. I would avoid the Dolphins defense, I see this game being higher scoring.
Peyton Manning should be very good this week, and I think he will be terrific. C.J. Anderson is a borderline top ten running back this week, and he should start for you. Juwan Thompson is a name to remember if you need a running back and don’t have anyone else he could do well. Demaryius Thomas is a must start receiver, Emmanuel Sanders is probable and I would start him if he’s active. If Sanders does not play, Wes Welker becomes very valuable. Julius Thomas is questionable, I do not think he plays. If Thomas does play you should start him but if he does not Jacob Tamme is a good replacement. The Broncos defense is a top ten start this week and should have a good game.
Washington Redskins at San Francisco 49ers
Fantasy Relevance 5 – I would avoid Robert Griffin this week, because of the tough matchup and the other issues. Alfred Morris is a top fifteen running back this week but the matchup is tough. DeSean Jackson is a wide receiver two this week. Pierre Garcon should not start in any league this league. Jordan Reed is out, Niles Paul is a borderline top ten star. I would avoid the Redskins defense.
Colin Kaepernick is a top ten start this week, and this matchup is really good for him. Frank Gore is a top fifteen start, but has some risk. Anquan Boldin is a flex play, Michael Crabtree is a wide receiver three but has some risk. Vernon Davis should be avoided because he just is not involved lately. The 49ers defense is a top five play this week and I think they will be terrific.
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
Fantasy Relevance 5 – Tony Romo is a top ten start this week and I like him a lot. Demarco Murray is a must start this week. Dez Bryant is a top five start and Terrance Williams should only be considered if you are in a deep league. Jason Witten is a top five tight end this week and should have a good game. The Cowboys defense is a top twelve start this week, and a sleeper I think.
Eli Manning should only be started in two quarterback leagues. I think Rashad Jennings will have a very good game, he is a top ten start. Odell Beckham Jr. is a top fifteen receiver this week, while Rueben Randle is a wide receiver three or flex play in deeper leagues. Larry Donnell is a top five start this week and should be good. The Giants defense should be avoided not matter what.
Baltimore Ravens at New Orleans Saints
Fantasy Relevance 6 – Joe Flacco is an okay quarterback if you need a bye week replacement. Justin Forsett is a top ten start this week, and has a great matchup. Torrey Smith is a flex play this week, and Steve Smith is a risky flex play. Owen Daniels is a top ten tight end this week. The Ravens defense is a top twelve start this week.
Drew Brees is a top five start this week. Mark Ingram has a tougher matchup but is still a top ten start. Marques Colston is a flex play, as is Kenny Stills. Both receivers value increase because of Brandin Cooks being out. Jimmy Graham is a must start and should have a good game. The Saints defense should be avoided, this game should be higher scoring.
