NFL Week 14 Matchups

Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins
Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Joe Flacco is not a good start this week, and below guys like McCoy, Dalton and Mettenberger. Justin Forsett is a top ten start this week. Torrey Smith and Steve Smith are wide receivers in the flex area, with some upside. Owen Daniels is a low tight end this week and I would look for an alternative for the playoffs. The Ravens defense is around the top fifteen this week and I would avoid them this week.
Ryan Tannehill is a top ten quarterback Lamar Miller is a running back two but I don’t like this matchup. Mike Wallace and Jarvis Landry are top twenty receivers this week. Landry has really emerged as a solid start every week. I think Mike Wallace could have a game like Kennan Allen did last week. Charles Clay is outside the top ten at tight end this week, and I would drop him for guys like Reed, Rudolph, and Miller. The Dolphins defense is a top ten start this week and they should do okay, but I see this game being a high scoring one.
Indianapolis Colts at Cleveland Browns
Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Andrew Luck is a top five start and should be good. Daniel Herron is a top twenty start this week and a borderline running back two. Trent Richardson is a low flex running back, and I would to to avoid him because of uncertainty. T.Y. Hilton is a top ten receiver this but his value drops because of a tough matchup. Reggie Wayne is a flex play this week. Donte Moncrief is someone to consider at receiver in deep leagues or if you lack options. Dwayne Allen is a top ten tight end since he is expected to play. I would bench Coby Fleener if that is possible and see what he does this week with Allen’s return. If they decide to get Fleener more involved he does have some value. The Colts defense is around the top twenty this week and I do not think they should be started in any situation.
Brian Hoyer should be avoided in all cases this week because I’m nervous he will get benched. Isaiah Crowell is a top twenty running back this week. The matchup is okay so he is a running back two. Terrance West is a lower flex play this week and I would bench him because of the unpredictability. Josh Gordon is a top ten receiver this week and is a must start. Jordan Cameron is questionable; Cameron should be avoided for this week even though the Colts are bad against tight ends. The Browns defense is one I would avoid, the Colts offense should put up a good amount of points.
Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Cam Newton is around the top ten at quarterback this week and I like him. Jonathan Stewart is a flex play this week, with some upside. Mike Tolbert should only be considered in deeper leagues. Kelvin Benjamin is a top fifteen receiver this week. Greg Olsen is a top five tight end this week; I like this matchup for him and the Panthers offense. The Panthers should be avoided in all leagues this week.
Drew Brees is a top five start this week; he should do well especially at home. Mark Ingram is a top ten running back this week and is a running back one. Pierre Thomas is a running back option in very deep leagues or if you are desperate. Kihry Robinson is back, but I don’t expect much from him and prefer Thomas to Robinson. Kenny Stills is a top twenty five start this week and has good upside. Marques Colston is a flex receiver this week, who I feel will have an average game. Jimmy Graham is a must start tight end and I expect him to bounce back and have a big game this week. The Saints defense should be avoided in all formats, they just aren’t very good.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Ben Roethlisberger is a top ten quarterbacks this week but has some risk of a mediocre game. Le’Veon Bell is one of the best running backs this week and a must start. Antonio Brown should do well this week and is in the top five at receivers. Martavis Bryant is a low flex receiver this week, which comes with risk also. Heath Miller is a low tight end one this week, but I think he’s a bit of a sleeper. The Steelers defense is not one to start this week, they are too unpredictable.
Andy Dalton is only useful if you are in a two quarterback league. Jeremy Hill is a top fifteen running back, while Giovani Bernard is around twenty. I prefer Hill this week, but the situation is tough to predict and depends a lot about game flow. A.J. Green is a top five receiver this week, while Mohamed Sanu is a low end flex play. Jermaine Gresham only has value in deep leagues. The Bengals defense is a top fifteen start this week, and I think they are a sleeper.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Doug Martin is a flex running back this week. Charles Sims should only be considered if you are desperate. Bobby Rainey does not have any relevance at this point. Mike Evans is a top fifteen receiver. Vincent Jackson is a flex receiver, who I would not start this week in a tough matchup. I would avoid the Buccaneers defense in all situations this week because the Lions have a talented offense that can score a lot.
Matthew Stafford is a top ten quarterback in an easy matchup for the Lions offense this week. Joique Bell is a top fifteen running back this week, and I see him carrying over a lot of the momentum he had. Reggie Bush is expected to play, but I would try to avoid him. If he does play he is nothing more than a low end flex with some risk. Calvin Johnson is a top five receiver, and a must start. Golden Tate is a wide receiver two, and around the top twenty this week. The Lions is a top five start this week, and easily could be the highest scoring defense when the week is over.
Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Fantasy Relevance: 2 – Ryan Fitzpatrick is an interesting name at quarterback. If you need a quarterback, I think Fitzpatrick is worth a chance. Arian Foster played great, and is a must start in another good matchup. DeAndre Hopkins is a top fifteen wide receiver this week. Andre Johnson is a low flex play for me. The Texans defense is a top five start this week and I think they will do great.
Dernard Robinson is a top twenty running back this week, and a running back two. Cecil Shorts and Allen Hurns are wide receiver fours and have little value in most leagues. The Jaguars defense should be avoided this week in every situation.
New York Jets at Minnesota Vikings
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Chris Ivory is a flex play this week, I think he has good upside though. Chris Johnson should only be used in deep leagues or if you are out of options. Percy Harvin and Eric Decker are low flex plays or wide receiver fours. The Jets defense should be avoided in all situations this week.
Jerrick McKinnon Matt Asiata are low flex plays this week. Ben Tate is the lowest of the three for me. Charles Johnson and Greg Jennings are wide receiver fours, and I would not start either unless I had to. Kyle Rudolph is a top ten tight end; he is in the mix with the rest of the okay tight ends you hope for a touchdown with. The Vikings defense is a top five start this week, and I expect them to be great.
New York Giants at Tennessee Titans
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Eli Manning is a around fifteen for quarterbacks this week. Rashad Jennings is unlikely to play this week. This makes Andre Williams a low running back two. He might be available so I would add him if I needed a running back or had Jennings. Odell Beckham Jr. is a top ten receiver this week and a good start. Ruben Randle is a low wide receiver three and I would avoid him unless I had no other options. Larry Donnell is a top ten tight end this week. It is tough to trust the Giants offense though. The Giants defense is a risky start this week and I would avoid them. They couldn’t stop the Jaguars so I do not see why the Titans would be different.
Zach Mettenberger only has value in two quarterback leagues at this point. Bishop Sankey is a flex running back this week. Kendall Wright is a low flex receiver. Delaine Walker is a top five tight end this week, and the matchup is good but he’s been inconsistent. The Titans defense should be avoided also even though the matchup is good.
St Louis Rams at Washington Redskins
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Shaun Hill should only be considered in two quarterback leagues. Tre Mason had a great game last week and is now a running back one and in the top twelve. Stedman Bailey and Kenny Britt are both in the low flex category. Jared Cook should only be considered in deep leagues or if you don’t have other options. The Rams defense is a top five start this week, and I like them a lot.
Colt McCoy did okay last week, and is an okay start if you really need a quarterback or if you are in a two quarterback league. Alfred Morris is a top ten running back this week, and I think he will have another solid game. DeSean Jackson is a top fifteen receiver this week, but he has some risk. Pierre Garcon is a low wide receiver three and I would try and avoid all Washington receivers. Jordan Reed is around a top ten start, and I feel good about him since he seems to have a connection with McCoy. I would avoid the Redskins defense just because they are not very good.
Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Fred Jackson is a running back two this week around the twenties for running backs. Sammy Watkins is a wide receiver in the flex area now, and is tough to trust at this point. Robert Woods is a receiver in deeper league that has value now. I don’t like the Bills defense this week, the Broncos offense is terrific and can score a lot. The Bills are a great defense, but this week I would look for an alternative.
Peyton Manning is a top five quarterback. C.J. Anderson is a five start this week; he should be able to help you a lot for the playoffs. Demaryius Thomas is a top five receiver this week, there is a bit of an injury but it seems likely he will play. Emmanuel Sanders is a top ten receiver and should be great. Julius Thomas is questionable but if he starts he’s a top five tight end. The Broncos defense is around the top ten and I think they are a sleeper since I don’t see this game being very close.
Kansas City Chiefs at Arizona Cardinals
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Alex Smith should only be considered in two quarterback leagues. Jamaal Charles is a top five running back this week, and a must start even though the matchup is tough. Dwayne Bowe is still a low end flex play or wide receiver three. Travis Kelce is a top ten start this week, The Chiefs defense should not be used this week, even though the Cardinals are struggling on offense there are better options.
Andre Ellington is out; Stephen Taylor is replacing him but is a big downgrade. Taylor is in the flex range for this game. Larry Fitzgerald is a wide receiver three or a low flex play if he plays this week, it will be a game-time decision. Michael Floyd is a low flex also, and if Fitzgerald returns it hurts Floyd. The Cardinals defense is a top ten start this week, so they are a good option.
San Francisco 49ers at Oakland Raiders
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Colin Kaepernick is a top fifteen quarterback this week, the matchup is good so I would start him over Matt Ryan or Eli Manning. Frank Gore is a top fifteen running back and I like him a lot. Anquan Boldin is a low wide receiver two or flex play this week. Michael Crabtree is a wide receiver three or a low end flex play. I would avoid Crabtree if it was possible.
Latavius Murray is around the flex area at running back, he is going to play this week. Darren McFadden should only be considered if you don’t have any other options or in deep leagues. James Jones is a wide receiver four. The Raiders defense should not be started, I do see this game being low scoring but that is not enough for me to consider them.
Seattle Seahawks at Philadelphia Eagles
Fantasy Relevance: 6 – Russell Wilson is a top ten quarterback this week and I like him a lot. I think this game will be high scoring and Wilson will run some. Marshawn Lynch is a top five start this week. Doug Baldwin should only be considered in deeper leagues as a wide receiver four. The Seahawks defense is a top ten start this week I would start them but I do have some concern about this game being in the high twenties for scoring with few turnovers.
Mark Sanchez is around the top fifteen this week, so I would avoid using him. I do think the Eagles offense will score points but I don’t see Sanchez being a big part of that. LeSean McCoy is a top ten start, I think he will have another solid performance. Jeremy Maclin is a top fifteen receiver this week. Jordan Matthews is a wide receiver two or flex play. I would avoid Zach Ertz, he just is not reliable and doesn’t have great upside. The Eagles defense is around the top ten this week, but I would be nervous about starting them.
New England Patriots at San Diego Charges
Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Tom Brady is a top five start this week. LaGarrette Blount and Shane Verren are good flex plays. Jonas Gray does not have much value at this point. Brandon LaFell is a top fifteen start this week, and I like him a lot. Julian Edelman is a wide receiver, he is listed as questionable but is expected to start. Rob Grownkowski is a must start and should be good. The Patriots defense is around the top fifteen but I would avoid them because of the potential the Chargers have.
Philip Rivers is a top ten quarterback this week I think he is a good option in what I expect to be a high scoring game. Ryan Matthews is a top fifteen start this week and close to a running bacj one. Kennan Allen is a wide receiver two this week, it is a tough matchup for him though.. Malcom Floyd is an okay option in deeper leagues but he’s around a wide receiver four. Antonio Gates is a top ten tight end this week. The Chargers defense should not be started no matter what because of this tough matchup.
Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Matt Ryan is a top fifteen quarterback this week, I would try to find an alternative. Steven Jackson is a flex play this week. Julio Jones is a top ten receiver this week, and a must start. Roddy White is questionable, but if he plays he is in the flex area. It is tough though because this is the Monday night game, so finding a replacement could be difficult. The Flacons defense should be avoided.
Aaron Rodgers is a must start this week . Eddie Lacy is a top five running back this week. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are top ten receivers this week. I expect everyone on the Packers offense to have pretty big games. The Packers defense is a top ten start this week, and I expect them to have a good game, I think Green Bay will dominate.
