Week 16 Matchups Preview

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Mark Sanchez is around a top ten quarterback, the matchup is good this week. LeSean McCoy is a top fifteen start this week, so he is a little lower than usual. Jeremy Maclin is a top ten receiver this week. Jordan Matthews is a wide receiver two or flex play. The Eagles defense is around the top ten this week, and I think they are a sleeper. The Redskins offense can’t seem to get anything going, and I think the Eagles will take advantage of this.
RGIII is back and starting for the Redskins. I would avoid him in all situations. I don’t see how you could trust him. Alfred Morris is a top fifteen running back this week, and his value rises with RG III back. DeSean Jackson is around the top fifteen, and is a wide receiver two. Pierre Garcon is a low wide receiver three. Jordan Reed is a top fifteen tight end. I don’t like Reed with RGIII as the quarterback. I would avoid the Redskins defense because I don’t think they will be able to stop the high powered Eagles offense.
San Diego Chargers at San Francisco 49ers
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Philip Rivers is a top fifteen quarterback this week. Ryan Matthews did not practice Friday and is unlikely to play. Branden Oliver and Donald Brown don’t have much value, I prefer Oliver if you have to start one. Keenan Allen is out this week and probably the rest of the fantasy season. Malcom Floyd is a wide receiver three, his value doesn’t increase much. Antonio Gates is a top five tight end this week. The Chargers defense should be avoided this week, the matchup seems good but I think there is too much risk.
Frank Gore is in the flex area this week if he plays, he was limited in practice. Carlos Hyde didn’t practice so it is tough to see him playing. I think Gore will play though. Anquan Boldin is a wide receiver three and should only be started if you’re desperate. Michael Crabtree has even less relevance and I would not start him in any case. The 49ers defense is an okay start, they are in the middle.
Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Joe Flacco is a top fifteen start this week and around the middle of the pack for quarterbacks. Justin Forsett is a top fifteen start this week. Steve Smith is a low wide a solid flex play. Torrey Smith is in the flex area as well. Owen Daniels is a middle of the tier tight end this week. The Ravens defense is a top five option this week and I think they are a solid option.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is only relevant in two quarterback leagues. Arian Foster is a must start but does have a tough matchup this week. DeAndre Hopkins is a flex wide receiver this week. Andre Johnson is a low flex play who can be boom or bust. The Texans defense is a average defense this week but outside the top 10.
Cleveland Browns at Carolina Panthers
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Johnny Manziel is not useful at this point, he can’t be trusted until he performs well. Isaiah Crowell is in the flex area. Terrance West is lower but also a flex play this week. Josh Gordon is a wide receiver two this week. Jordan Cameron is around the top twenty and near the bottom for tight ends. The Browns defense is around the top fifteen this week. They are an okay option.
Cam Newton is a top twelve quarterback this week. Jonathan Stewart is a running back two this week. Kelvin Benjamin is a top fifteen receiver this week. Greg Olsen is a top five tight end this week. The Panthers defense is in the top ten this week, this matchup could be great for them if the Browns offense struggles again.
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Matt Stafford is a borderline top five quarterback this week, and I like him a lot this week. Joique Bell is a top ten running back this week, and I like him a lot. Reggie Bush is mostly irrelevant now. Calvin Johnson is a top five receiver, and a must start. Golden Tate is a wide receiver two. The Lions are a top five start this week and should do great.
Jimmy Clausen has taken over as the starter. I don’t think he has any fantasy relevance though. Matt Forte is a top ten running back this week, the matchup is tough. Alshon Jeffery is a top fifteen receiver. I don’t think Clausen at quarterback will make a difference. Martellus Bennett is a top ten tight end. The Bears defense should not be started in any situation.
Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Aaron Rodgers is a must start and this matchup is great for him. Eddie Lacy is a top five start this week. Joey Nelson is a top five receiver and Randall Cobb is in the top ten. The Packers defense is a top five start this week and I think they’ll do great.
Doug Martin is a flex running back this week. Mike Evans is a top fifteen receiver. Vincent Jackson is a good flex option. I would avoid the Buccaneers defense in all scenarios.
Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers
Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Jamaal Charles is a top five running back this week. Dwayne Bowe is a wide receiver three at this point and should only be considered in deep leagues. Travis Kelce is a top ten start this week and I am optimistic about him. The Chiefs defense is not a good option this week. This game should be high scoring.
Ben Roethlisberger is a top ten quarterback this week. Le’Veon Bell is a must start this week and should do great. Antonio Brown is a top five receiver this week. Martavis Bryant is a risky flex play. He gets most of his production on big plays. Heath Miller is a top fifteen tight end. Miller is an okay option if you are desperate. The Steelers defense should be avoided because they have some injuries and the Chiefs can be productive.
Minnesota Vikings at Miami Dolphins
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Matt Asiata is a solid flex start this week. Ben Tate should only be considered in deep leagues. Charles Johnson is in the flex area this week. I would not start either unless I had to. Kyle Rudolph is around the middle of the tight end tier. The Vikings defense are an okay defense this week and a good option if you need one.
Ryan Tannehill is an okay option if you need a quarterback or you’re in a two quarterback league. Lamar Miller is around the top fifteen at running and a solid option with a good matchup. Mike Wallace is a wide receiver two this week. Jarvis Landry is in the flex area. Charles Clay should only be considers at tight end if you’re desperate. The Dolphins defense is a solid option this week and should do well.
New England Patriots at New York Jets
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Tom Brady is a top five quarterback this week and should do great. LeGartette Blount is in the flex area this week. Shane Vereen and Jonas Gray are in the same area but somewhat lower. Julian Edelman is a top fifteen receiver and I like him a lot. Brandon LaFell is around the top twenty. Rob Gronkowski is a must start and I expect him to have a great game. The Patriots defense is a top five option and I expect them to be great.
Chris Ivory is in the flex area this week. Chris Johnson is a lower flex option. Eric Decker is a low flex play. Percy Harvin is expected to play, but he should only be considered in deeper leagues. The Jets defense should be avoided. I expect them to struggle against a great Patriots offense.
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Matt Ryan is a top five quarterback this week. Steven Jackson is a running back two this week and I like his matchup. Julio Jones is a top ten receiver this week, but is questionable and might not play. Roddy White is around the top fifteen and his value increases if Jones doesn’t play. Harry Douglas is around the top twenty if Jones is out. The Falcons defense should not be started.
Drew Brees is a top five start this week, and should be terrific. Mark Ingram is a top ten running back this week. Pierre Thomas is in the flex area. The matchup for the Saints is great. Kenny Stills and Marques Colston are in the flex range this week as well. Jimmy Graham is a must start tight end. The Saints defense should be avoided. This game should be a high scoring shootout.
New York Giants at St. Louis Rams
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Eli Manning is around the twenties for quarterback but better options are available. Rashad Jennings is out this week. Andre Williams is in the flex area because of this. Odell Beckham Jr. is a top ten receiver this week and a good option. Larry Donnell is a top fifteen tight end this week. The Giants defense is around the top fifteen this week and I would avoid them.
Tre Mason is a top twenty running back this week and he has a good matchup. Jared Cook is around the top fifteen at tight end and in the mix with most of the other tight ends. The Rams defense is a solid top ten start this week.
Buffalo Bills at Oakland Raiders
Fantasy Relevance: 3 – Fred Jackson is around the top fifteen for running backs and a solid option this week. Sammy Watkins is a wide receiver in the flex area this week. Robert Woods has some value in deep leagues. The Bills defense is a top five option and they should have a nice game.
Latavius Murray is a running back two this week but has a tough matchup. James Jones is a wide receiver four and only has value in deep leagues. Mychal Rivera is a top twenty tight end, I would avoid him. The Raiders defense should not be considered.
Indianapolis Colts at Dallas Cowboys
Fantasy Relevance: 6 – Andrew Luck is a top five start and I like him a lot. Daniel Herron is a top twenty start this week and a low running back two. Trent Richardson is a low flex play. T.Y. Hilton is a top ten receiver this week but is questionable with a hamstring. If he doesn’t play Donte Moncrief and Reggie Wayne both are in the low wide receiver two or flex range. Dwayne Allen is the better option over Coby Fleener in my opinion. The Colts defense should not be started in a tough matchup that should produce a lot of points.
Tony Romo is a top ten quarterback, and should be a good option. DeMarco Murray is a top five start if he plays. Murray is questionable but I expect him to play. If Murray doesn’t play, Joseph Randle is a better option. Dez Bryant is a top five start and should have a good game. Jason Witten is a top ten tight end and should do well. The Cowboys defense should be avoided in a tough matchup.
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
Fantasy Relevance: 4 – Russell Wilson is a top ten start this week and is a good option. Marshawn Lynch is a top ten start this week. Doug Baldwin is a wide receiver three. The Seahawks defense is a top five start and should be great this week against a struggling Cardinals offense.
Ryan Lindley does not have any fantasy relevance Kerwynn Williams is a flex running back this week, but keep in mind the tough matchup. Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd are low flex plays or wide receiver threes this week. The Cardinals defense is a top ten option and I expect them to do well in a defensive battle.
Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals
Fantasy Relevance: 5 – Peyton Manning is a top ten start, but I still think you need to start him. C.J. Anderson is a top ten start this week, and I like Anderson to have a great game. Demaryius Thomas is a top five receiver this week. Emmanuel Sanders is a top ten receiver and both receivers should be solid. Thomas is a top five tight end. The Broncos defense is around the top ten this week but I think this game will be in the twenties for both teams.
Andy Dalton is only valuable if you are in a two quarterback league. Jeremy Hill is a top fifteen running back and I think he will continue to do well. Giovani Bernard is in the top twenty five. Bernard could have a lot of value in the passing game. A.J. Green is a top ten receiver this week. The Bengals defense is around the twenties but I would not consider them against the powerful Broncos offense
