Calvin Johnson is still a starting WR?* Rodgers, Rivers, Fitzpatrick or Cousins?* Danny Woodhead or Christine Michael?* What about Reuben Randle?
Do you think Calvin Johnson is still a starting WR for fantasy? (@sacosta488) (@freecheetos)
This past week was a huge opportunity for the Lions offense. They went up against the Saints bottom ranked defense and they did not disappoint. But they did all their damage without involving star wide receiver Calvin Johnson. This was a major problem for fantasy owners and very well could have knocked some of you out of the playoffs. I would love to chalk this up as a result of the defense and the rising Golden Tate. The reality is, the Lions know Johnson will get a ton of defensive attention. They are going to continue to game plan for that and from what I’ve seen, use him as a decoy. Not to mention he has a bad ankle.
If you can, avoid Calvin. It’s too risky to start him in the championship if you can score someone on waivers. If not, pray for a touchdown.
I’ve got a struggling QB heading into the playoffs, rank my 4 options. Rodgers, Rivers, Cousins, Fitzpatrick (@avac916) (@ceemaur) (@samstone1029) (@ilocanoedjun)
Well there are two names up there that were must starts early on. Now things have changed and I am going to go ahead and say that this week, against Philly, Kirk Cousins is a must start. Here are my rankings for those 4 guys:
- Cousins vs PHI
- Rivers vs OAK
- Rodgers vs ARI
- Fitzpatrick vs NE
Danny Woodhead or Christine Michael? (@craigmaur)
Found this start/sit interesting. Woodhead is coming off a huge game with 4 TDs. He won’t replicate that again but will he build off of it? And, can Christine Michael keep improving after a 16 carry 84 yard performance?
Let’s look at Danny Woodhead’s player analysis. Woodhead has always been a receiving back and doesn’t receive much more than 10 carries. But has a high volume of targets in the passing game. His matchup with Oakland is pretty average. His history against Oakland however, tells another story. Last time vs Oak he managed 101 total yards, along with 2 REC TD’s. Quite the day.
On the other hand we have Christine Michael, he appears to be the lead back in SEA. Which could earn him between 15-20 carries. STL has allowed plenty of fantasy points to RBs lately and I wouldn’t be surprised if Michael went over 100 yards. Assuming he gets the carries. He is yet to really prove himself and that is his major down side.
I would have to go with the safer option in Woodhead, as he has history, momentum, and experience on his side.
Is Reuben Randle a solid replacement for OBJ? (@blakebadley)
Everyone knows what went down on Sunday between Odell and Josh. The events resulted in a 1 game suspension for OBJ and this has opened the door for Randle. What should we expect?
Randle has actually been pretty great as a WR2 this season for the Giants. However, many WR2s have collapsed in the spot light. Randle doesn’t have an amazing matchup vs MIN. I like Randle as a compliment to OBJ and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him score a TD this week. But his ceiling is relatively low and there are options out there that could be better for your championship game.
Need a great low owned D for the championship. What do you suggest? (@caleb_jordan1) (@thegeneralbear)
Steelers vs BAL – The Steelers defense hasn’t always been good, but lately they have been and have a pretty solid matchup vs BAL.
Raiders vs SD – The Chargers aren’t what they were and Oak has been a great defense as of late.
Titans vs HOU – Houston is having QB troubles and that is good news for any opposing defense.
