Waiver Wire Week 1

Image result for christine michael

Christine Michael RB Seattle 63% Owned– We’ve all heard this name in seasons past and he’s never done much with the hype. But this preseason Michael is lighting it up 157 yards on 24 carries gives him an amazing 6.5 YPC. Another reason to consider Michael is the current running back situation in Seattle. Thomas Rawls is hands down the #1 running back… when healthy and coming off a severe ankle injury who knows if he is 100%. Pete Carroll has said that no doubt Rawls will play in the season opener against the Dolphins but for any running back ankle injuries linger and nag and one bad turn and it could aggravate. Michael has at least earned some work alongside Rawls but if there is a hiccup with Rawls ankle then Michael is the #1 on a run friendly team and has instant fantasy value.

Dak Prescott OB Dallas Cowboys 32% Owned– The darling of the preseason, putting on a clinic and showing that he can play in this league. Although a very small sample just four preseason games Dak now gets the spotlight with Romo being sidelined for what looks to be at least half of the season. But let’s dive deeper than just saying he’s the starter, the pieces around him will make him successful. Dak paired alongside Zeke Elliot in the backfield could prove to be a lethal combo and give linebackers headaches. He has a strong offensive line that will keep him upright and some very good veteran targets on the outside in Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. He has already built somewhat of a good relationship with Dez Bryant finding him on two occasions for touchdowns in the preseason. This late in the preseason if Dak is still on waivers you need to add him immediately!

Tajae Sharpe WR Tennessee Titans 6% Owned– Wait isn’t that a wide receiver on the Titans? Yes, a wide out on the Titans you actually want! Sharpe has been getting rave reviews in the preseason and they say his work ethic is second to none. The Titans believe in this guy as they traded their second round pick from just a year ago in Dorial Green- Beckham and cut Justin Hunter as well, it’s shaping up for him to be the guy. Now I know in Tennessee it’s a very run heavy offense now with Murray and Henry but they are going to have to throw and Mariota will be looking for Sharpe. I don’t expect Sharpe to come out of the gate blazing but he is a great young talent and arguably the #1 receiver in Tennessee he will get consistent looks and could be flex worthy very soon. If you are in need of receiver or flex help Sharpe is a great option.

Image result for Zach Miller

Zach Miller TE Chicago Bears 45% Owned-Here’s a guy that really turned it on last season in the latter half 34 catches and 5 touchdowns down the stretch and in the playoffs. Those numbers aren’t eye popping by any means but he was the #2 tight end behind Martellus Bennett last season, very solid numbers in that position. Now Bennett is off to New England and its Miller’s job now. He really built a strong relationship with Jay Cutler and they could significantly improve on their numbers from last season. On the outside Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White will draw plenty of attention in the vertical passing game but behind Jeffery, Miller is Cutlers second favorite target. The Bears aren’t shaping up to be very good this season and it should bode for lots of passing attempts. With not many elite tight end options in fantasy this season Miller has a lot of upside and could be a good option in deeper leagues and for sure a guy to stash on your bench.

Spencer Ware RB Kansas City Chiefs 28% Owned– I include him but most Charles owners have already cuffed him. Charles is still having a tough time recovering from his torn ACL and will probably not go in Week 1. The Chiefs have said that Ware is the clear backup while Charcandrick West may see some passing down work. If you need a fill in or your RB2 spot is weak Ware is a great option in week 1, he goes against the Chargers defense which is very poor against the run and the Chiefs will want to run the ball all they can. This is a great move for week 1 but for the whole season Ware could find himself getting lots of work if Charles shows any signs of being unhealthy down the road. Should be owned by every Charles owner if not should defiantly pick him up before the season.
