Eli Manning QB New York Giants – Odell is back! And so is Eli Manning’s fantasy relevance. A week after a terrible performance against the Packers Eli erupted for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns. There was a lot of hype about this passing attack in the offseason getting Sterling Shepard via the draft and Victor Cruz back from injury, and the star of the show, Odell Beckham. But up to this this week they did not look very sharp. Whether that was defenses successfully shutting down Odell or just poor play by Eli Manning they simply were not producing. This may be the start of the turnaround as Odell was an absolute beast going over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns and the supporting cast having a nice game around him. Better games should be to come as the offense finds its footing and Eli will reap the benefits. He is owned in a good percent of leagues but he very well could have been dropped last week. Should be a low end QB1 the rest of the way.
Kenny Britt WR Los Angeles Rams – Who is the Rams #1 receiver? It’s very hard to tell, but Britt made a strong case Sunday as he shocked everyone with 7 catches for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wow. A very strong performance by the veteran. Britt has actually been very steady this year getting at least 65 yards receiving in every game but one. In a world where first round receivers can be shut down on any given Sunday and bye weeks are always a conflict he is a perfect fill in receiver and a potential flex in deeper leagues. Fantasy owners always look for consistency, and he has been thus far.
Jay Ajayi RB Miami Dolphins – Just a few weeks ago the Dolphins used a 4 man running back committee and it was beyond a mess. They may have found some clarity this week with Ajayi, 25 carries for 204 yards. That’s enough to make any owner very very happy. Very surprisingly they went with and stuck with one back this week and it worked perfectly. Based on his play through the first few weeks he very well could have found his talent on your waiver wire. This is potentially a top 15 back the rest of the season if they keep featuring him and his play this week alone warrants a claim for him. With the running back market thinning out to a few top players everyone can use a talented running back. Let’s see if he can continue his success against the Bills next week.
Marcus Mariota QB Tennessee Titans – Mariota has shown fantasy owners flashes of greatness but never could string too many good games together until now. Putting together two straight games over 25 points he has looked very good. 3 passing touchdowns each of those weeks and at least 60 yards on the ground. He is the ultimate dual threat QB and is having a field day as of late. Two more plus matchups coming his way next week with the Colts and week 8 against the Jaguars he is shaping up to be a QB1 for the rest of the way.
James White RB New England Patriots – The highly coveted pass catching back on the Patriots. White looked solid this week catching 8 passes and 2 touchdowns from them. A PPR machine but isn’t owned in 85% of leagues and needs to be. Brady loves to check down to his running backs when nothing else is open and once White gets into space anything can happen. There is talk of Dion Lewis practicing possibly as soon as next week but I believe White will be the starter for at least the next two weeks and could be much longer. A high volume pass catching back in the Brady system, you really can’t go wrong.
